MERDEKA Fest 2026 – All Competition Terms & Conditions
Terms and Conditions
Date: 28 August 2026
Time: 3:00 PM
Venue: Beginning Stage, LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort
Eligibility & Registration
-
Open to valid LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort visitors on the event day.
-
Each team must consist of one (1) adult aged 18 years or above and one (1) child aged 12 years or below.
-
Both team members must be present during registration and throughout the competition.
-
Registration will be announced on the event day and is on a first-come, first-served basis.
-
Participation is limited to 36 teams. Registration will close once all available slots have been filled.
-
Teams must report to the competition venue when required. Teams that fail to report when called may be disqualified and their place offered to another team.
Competition Format
-
The competition will consist of three preliminary rounds, with 12 teams participating in each round.
-
Teams will be required to complete a surprise LEGO® model within the allocated time.
-
The model will only be revealed at the start of each round.
-
The two fastest teams from each preliminary round to correctly complete the model will progress to the Final Round.
-
A total of six teams will compete in the Final Round by building another surprise LEGO® model.
-
Winners will be determined by the fastest completion time, provided the model has been built accurately.
-
If a completed model contains errors or missing elements, the team must correct them before its completion time is recorded.
-
Only the registered adult and child may participate, and no assistance from spectators or other participants is permitted.

A parent or legal guardian must accompany the participant during registration and throughout the competition.

Each child may participate in one competition category only.

Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis and must be completed before registration closes.
Competition Categories
Participants may enter one of the following:
Category A – Traditional Costume
Traditional attire celebrating Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage, including Malay, Chinese, Indian, Indigenous and other Malaysian ethnic costumes.
Category B – Merdeka-Themed Costume
Creative costumes inspired by Malaysia’s National Day celebrations, the colours of the Jalur Gemilang, Malaysian patriotic elements or the spirit of Merdeka.
Competition Format & Judging

Participants will be invited onto the stage individually to walk, pose and showcase their costume.

Judging will consider:

Creativity and originality

Relevance to the selected category

Overall appearance and presentation

Stage confidence and poise

Costume craftsmanship and attention to detail, where applicable

Costumes must be appropriate for a family-friendly environment.

Dangerous, sharp, flammable or hazardous props are strictly prohibited.

The Organiser reserves the right to refuse participation if a costume is considered unsafe, offensive or inappropriate.

Parents or guardians may assist participants before they enter the stage but may not accompany them during the stage presentation unless requested by the Organiser.
Prizes
Each category will award:

Champion: RM500 worth of LEGO® sets

1st Runner-Up: RM300 worth of LEGO® sets

2nd Runner-Up: RM200 worth of LEGO® sets

Eligibility & Registration

Open to children aged 5–13 years visiting LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort on the event day.

A parent or legal guardian must accompany the participant during registration and throughout the competition.

Each participant is allowed one entry only.
-
Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis and must be completed before registration closes.
-
Participants must report to the competition venue before the competition begins.
Competition Format
-
The painting theme will be announced by the event host before the competition begins.
-
Participants will be provided with the required batik painting materials by the Organiser.
-
Only materials provided by the Organiser may be used unless otherwise instructed.
-
Participants will be given a fixed amount of time to complete their artwork.
-
Once time is called, participants must stop painting and submit their artwork for judging.
-
Participants must complete their artwork independently. Assistance from parents, guardians or spectators is not permitted.
-
Any participant found cheating or receiving outside assistance may be disqualified.
-
Completed artworks will become the property of LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort unless otherwise stated by the Organiser.
Judging
Artwork will be evaluated based on:

Neatness and overall finishing

Interpretation of the competition theme

To enter, participants must complete both of the following by 29 August 2026:
1. Complete the official Merdeka Singing Competition Entry Form
Microsoft Forms: SINGING COMPETITION REGISTRATION FORM
2. Submit a one-minute singing video
Email a one (1) minute video of the participant singing their chosen patriotic song to:

The participant’s full name as entered in the Microsoft Forms entry form should be included in the submission email so the video can be matched to the entry.
-
An entry will only be considered complete when both the Microsoft Forms entry form and the one-minute singing video have been received by the deadline.
-
Late or incomplete entries will not be accepted.
-
Only 10 shortlisted participants will be invited to compete in the Final Round.
-
Shortlisted finalists will be contacted by LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort using the contact details provided in the entry form.
-
Finalists must report at the time communicated by the Organiser. Failure to report at the designated time may result in disqualification.
Song & Performance Requirements
-
Participants must perform one patriotic song.
-
Songs should reflect the spirit of Merdeka, Hari Malaysia, patriotism, unity, national pride or love for Malaysia.
-
Songs containing offensive, political, racial, religiously sensitive, discriminatory or otherwise inappropriate content are strictly prohibited.
-
The Organiser reserves the right to reject any song considered unsuitable.
-
Finalists will perform live and individually at LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort.
-
Each live performance must not exceed six (6) minutes.
-
Backing tracks or “minus one” versions are permitted.
-
Participants may wear costumes or attire reflecting Malaysian culture, Merdeka or Hari Malaysia themes.
-
Simple props may be used provided they do not obstruct the performance area or create a safety hazard.

Terms and Conditions
Join the MERDEKA Fest celebrations at LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort with four exciting competitions taking place from 28–31 August 2026.
By registering for or participating in any of the competitions below, participants agree to these Terms & Conditions.

All competitions are organised by LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort (“the Organiser”).
-
Participants must meet the eligibility requirements stated for their respective competition.
-
Employees of LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort and their immediate family members are not eligible to participate in any of the competitions.
-
Where applicable, children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian during registration and throughout the competition.
-
Registration and participation are subject to availability. Where on-site registration applies, places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
-
Participants must follow all instructions provided by the Organiser, event hosts, judges and competition officials. Failure to comply with competition rules or instructions may result in disqualification.
-
Unsafe, offensive, inappropriate, discriminatory or unsportsmanlike behaviour may result in immediate disqualification.
-
The judges’ and/or Organiser’s decisions are final, and no correspondence or appeals will be entertained.
-
Prizes are non-transferable and non-exchangeable and, unless specifically stated otherwise, cannot be redeemed for cash. The Organiser reserves the right to amend or substitute prizes where necessary.

By participating, participants and/or their parents or legal guardians consent to photographs, videos and recordings taken during the competitions being used by LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort for promotional, marketing and publicity purposes without further notice or additional compensation.
-
Participants take part in the competitions at their own risk. LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort shall not be responsible for any loss, damage, injury or loss of personal property arising from participation, except where required by applicable law.

The Organiser reserves the right to amend the competition format, rules, prizes, timings or schedule, or to postpone, modify or cancel any competition where circumstances require.
