Investing more than RM $40 million – LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort unveils LEGO® NINJAGO™ The Ride: a cutting-edge technology which never before seen in any other themepark in the world

27 June 2016: Iskandar Puteri – With just a wave of their hands, guests at LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort will soon be able to throw lightning bolts, move shockwaves, send ice soaring and emit fire balls with cutting-edge technology that the Resort just unveiled today. The upcoming addition to the LEGOLAND Theme park, the launch of LEGO® NINJAGO™: The Ride – an attraction that set to redefine Park guests’ perceptions of an indoor ride. This is the largest additional investment since the opening of the LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort after the launch of its Theme Park, Hotel and Water Park. Estimated at more than RM $40 million, the breakthrough attraction promises to be a real game-changer to theme parks around the world. Set to be opened to public in November this year, LEGO® NINJAGO™: The Ride will be housed in a brand new section of the Park called NINJAGO™ World.

With technology that never before seen at any other theme parks in the world, LEGO® NINJAGO™: The Ride is manufactured by Triotech, world leader in media based interactive attractions, and features Maestro™ hand gesture technology that enables guests to control the outcome of their adventure through the power of their hands without the use of a hand-held device. The attraction is set to be a 4D dark ride inspired by the popular LEGO® line of NINJAGO™ toys and a related TV series. Riders play as Ninja warriors in training under the guidance of NINJAGO™ character Master Wu to vanquish a legion of enemies from snake tribes, ghosts and skeletons to the Great Devourer.

Through 3D imagery, high-tech sensors and the use of hand movements in a striking motion, up to four riders per car can act like ninja warriors blasting animated fireballs, lightning, shockwaves and ice as they travel through dojos to master their skills before heading into battle.  Riders are provided with a virtual experience of the ride as hand movements will be registered by sensors on lap bars which in turn directs the virtual projectiles towards the screen. Riders collect points for their training and battle efforts throughout the ride and scores are displayed when their quest is completed. 4D effects such as heat, smoke and wind are also incorporated throughout the adventure, giving guests the ultimate interactive experience.

LEGOLAND Parks being the first in the world to leverage the cutting-edge technology, first launched the NINJAGO Ride in Billund, Denmark earlier this year, followed by the California Resort in April, and now, it’s bringing it to Malaysia, the first ever in Asia!

“Merlin’s Magic Making team is at the core of every new attraction going into Merlin parks worldwide and we are excited to be working with Triotech to bring this global project to LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort,” said Managing Director of LEGOLAND Parks Hans Aksel Pedersen. “NINJAGO The Ride represents a new class of LEGOLAND attraction in terms of technology, immersion and interactivity. The entire Merlin’s Magic Making team is excited to see how guests react to what will be a world first and completely unique theme park experience.”

With the launch of this attraction being LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort’s largest addition over the past four years, it continues to support the Resort’s belief and commitment to ensure that guests continue to be entertained with their family with new excitements. It is these yearly additions that has won industry recognition for LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort with the awarding of the Best Tourist Attraction in the Man-Made Attraction category at the prestigious Malaysia Tourism Awards for the year of 2014/2015, ranked No.1 in the TripAdvisor® Traveller’s choice award 2016 as the first choice families hotel in Malaysia, and named No.6 in Asia overall, being the only resort in Asia to make the cut. On top of that, the Resort also received the Merit Award at the Landscape Design Awards for the year 2015, given and recognized by the Institute of Landscape Architects Malaysia, under the Professional Category. Having bagged these achievements and many more unstated, LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort seeks to continue to expand and bring new additions to the Resort, to ensure that it remains the crown jewel of Malaysia.
