Sharks have lived in our oceans for more than 450 million years! That’s long before dinosaurs first walked the earth. Their brains have evolved to become more intelligent and devoted to their senses mainly their ability to smell.
Yellow-brown with dark brown spots, these tropical inshore creatures can be found on sand, rubble, or coral bottoms of the continental and insular shelves. They are oviparous and lay eggs know as Mermaid Purse.
Zebra sharks are omnivorous animals and are fond of eating small fish, crabs, shrimps, and other small invertebrates.
Zebra Sharks are classified as vulnerable animals in the red list of IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature).
More people are killed by lightning, volcanoes and falling out of bed than by sharks!
Sharks have excellent hearing, and can hear sounds over 200 metres away!
